About this tour

Lovech is one of Bulgaria’s oldest settlements. The town was an important military strategic hub during the Middle Ages. During the 12th century, Lovech spread along the right bank of the Osum River, where the Varosha quarter – the architecture historical reserve is currently located. Lovech was one of the largest towns and fortifications in Northern Bulgaria throughout the 13th and 14th centuries, and it had good economic prosperity. Later, once the country fell under Ottoman rule, Lovech became Bulgaria’s revolutionary capital during the years of the national liberation effort. Vassil Levski, Bulgaria’s most popular hero, formed a revolutionary headquarters in the town.

Nowadays, Lovech has established itself as a major cultural and tourism hub, attracting people primarily for the monuments and unique architectural structures, as well as the region’s unique and stunning natural wonders. We will go to the Ethnographical Museum, which is made up of two mid-nineteenth-century buildings with exhibits depicting traditional Bulgarian life and customs, as well as period furniture. There’s also a wine cellar; Hisar Fortress—one of Bulgaria’s few remaining Ottoman citadels—overlooks Lovech from a steep hill. The 1200-square-metre site contains extensive remnants of mortar and crushed limestone walls dating from the 8th to 10th century.

Vasil Levski Museum- explores the life and hardships of Vasil Levski, one of Bulgaria’s best-known revolutionaries, via artefacts from his life (including weaponry) and artwork inspired by the daring freedom warrior; Covered Bridge- the only such structure in the Balkans. Between 1874 and 1876, renowned Bulgarian architect Kolyu Ficheto designed the bridge, which had stone foundations and wooden buildings. This gloomy wooden bridge is now teeming with craft and art stores.
Following that, we will travel to Krushunski Waterfalls, one of the country’s most beautiful attractions. They are located in the Maarata region, 35 kilometers northeast of Lovech. There is an eco-path developed for tourist convenience. The walk comprises about 15 bridges that are located in a gorgeous location.
