From Sofia: Plovdiv, Asen’s Fortress and Bachkovo Monastery

About this tour

After being picked up from your Sofia hotel or accommodation, take a lovely journey to Plovdiv for an hour and a half. Visit historic sites such as the Roman Theatre and the Roman Stadium. Walk about Old Town and see the Revival Period architecture of the buildings, museums, and cobblestone streets.

After a traditional Bulgarian lunch, drive 25 minutes to Asenova Fortress, which sits atop a rock in Rodopi Mountain. Admire this historic structure and the breathtaking views of the valley.

Visit the Bachkovo Monastery, which was founded in 1083, and view the stunning mural paintings that have survived to this day. After your tour, you will be driven back to Sofia and dropped off at your hotel.
