From Sofia: 7 Rila Lakes and Rila Monastery Self-Guided Trip

Depart Sofia in the morning on a shuttle bus driven by an English-speaking driver. Travel to Panichishte in the beautiful Rila National Park in air-conditioned comfort. When you arrive, your driver will brief you on the various options and routes you can take up the mountain.

Ride the chairlift to the 7 Rila Lakes, where you will have 5 hours of free time to go on some amazing nature walks on your own to see the glacial lakes from different angles.

Board the shuttle bus at the agreed-upon meeting point and unwind on the 2-hour drive to Rila Monastery in the Rilska River’s deep valley. The monastery complex, which was founded in the 10th century, is considered one of Bulgaria’s most important cultural and historical monuments. Allow 1.5 hours to explore Bulgaria’s largest Eastern Orthodox monastery at your leisure.

Then, in the evening, return to Sofia and be dropped off at the meeting point.
