To travel to Rila Monastery, meet your driver in Bansko and get in the air-conditioned car. Enjoy the 1.5-hour trip while taking in the stunning scenery of Bulgaria. Arrive at the monastery at 3 PM to give yourself plenty of time to tour the entire complex.
Explore its magnificent frescoes by one of the most renowned painters of the Bulgarian National Revival while admiring its balconies. View the gilded iconostasis while taking in the breathtaking mountain vistas. To get something to eat or drink, visit one of the two eateries in the complex.
Take the chance to learn more at the museum or browse the adjacent stores for souvenir icons and other products. The bus will leave Rila Monastery between 5:00 and 6:00 PM. Your driver will drop you off at your Bansko lodging at the conclusion of the excursion.
Look for a representative from the ski shop at the meeting point. They will direct you to your driver.

The monastery is a functioning Orthodox temple. A strict dress code is imposed and should be respected. Men and women should wear clothes covering their shoulders. Women should not wear short shorts or skirts.
Taking photos in the courtyard and of the frescoes on the outer fresco gallery of the main church of Rila Monastery is allowed.
Taking photos inside the main church, the residential parts and the museum is NOT permitted.
