From Sofia: Day Tour to Nis, Serbia

About this tour

During this day tour, you will travel through history under the expert guidance of your guide. Your time travel will begin with the Roman period, when Nis gave the world the Roman Emperor, Constantine the Great. You will then go through the Middle Ages and the Ottoman period, which left behind structures such as the Nis Fortress and the Skull Tower, which served as a symbol of the struggle for freedom and independence from the Ottomans, as well as a representation of the violence of the time.

The later part of the journey will focus on recent history, including the Nazi occupation of former Yugoslavia, and will include a visit to a Nazi concentration camp. It will be time to recuperate after this tour to a concentration camp.

During this visit, you will get the opportunity to sample traditional Serbian food, which is among the most delectable in the Balkans. You will also get free time to walk about the ancient old city. You will be returned to your Sofia accommodation at the end of your excursion.
